A very large piece of driftwood sits beached on the Mississippi River batture at Algiers Point, LA. A batture (pronounced "batcher") is a strip of land that is dry when a river is low and submerged when a river floods. This driftwood was left behind by floodwater in 2015. A few months prior to this photograph's date, the entire area was submerged under several feet of water, including the spot I was standing when I took the photo. The river floods annually.
